Our Client Services
We provide job search training and coaching to unemployed and under-employed professionals. The cost to become a member is an annual fee of $100, payable by cash, check or credit card.
Our hours are 10 to 4 Monday through Friday and we offer the following client services:
Networking Sessions
Tuesday mornings--7:30 and 10 am and Wednesday mornings 9:00 am till 10:30 am.
Each hour-and-a-half networking session offers clients a chance to share tips, leads and support.
Elevator Speech Workshop
Held bi-monthly on Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3:30. See the event calendar for the next scheduled session.
During this 2 hour workshop, participants create a 1 to 2 minute elevator speech and practice it at least 5 or 6 times in front of other participants. These workshops are by appointment only and fill up fast.
Making Telephone Calls Workshop
This interactive seminar will lead you through a process of preparing for and practicing making telephone calls that will help you turn the telephone to your advantage. The seminar will cover these topics:
- Different kinds of telephone calls
- Choosing the objective for your call
- Preparing your telephone script
In addition to working on all of these processes, you will have a chance to practice your newfound skills with other seminar attendees.
Job Skill Building Seminars
Thursday evenings--7 to 9 PM
These seminars feature professionals in the job search industry addressing a variety of subjects. See our calendar for details on subjects and speakers.
Interviewing Skills Workshop
Held every Monday from noon till 4:00 pm, these Interactive workshops offer practical advice on how to interview comfortably and effectively. The sessions end with individual, videotaped interviews.
Mock Interview
One-on-one Interview Practice
The Barrington Career Center is offering a new service that allows you to complete a mock interview. This unique program allows members a one-on-one customized practice interview session. You will be video taped and provided with specific feedback.
Office Support
We have Wi-Fi available onsite for our members. Additionally, we have six computer workstations, equipped with high-speed internet and Microsoft Office XP suite of products. Additionally, our office is equipped with printers, a scanner, copier and fax .
Job Search Advisor Sessions
Job Search Advisors are available daily to work one-on-one with clients to plan and implement job searches. These appointments are available by appointment only.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) Assessment
MBTI® assessment and an individual feedback session with a certified counselor helps clients match their personality type to potential career choices. An additional fee of $25 is required.
Strong Interest Inventory®
The Strong measures clients’ interests in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities and school subjects. An additional fee of $25 is required for the written report and an individual feedback session with a certified counselor.
Local Job Postings
Local businesses send us their current openings, and we post that information for our members on our website.
