About Us
The Barrington Career Center (BCC) is a 501(c)3 not for profit whose mission is to provide job search training and coaching services to unemployed professionals. We are dedicated to helping people help themselves; to empower them to learn the skills they need to launch and sustain a successful job search. We believe the business of looking for a job takes discipline and dedication. We coach our clients in tackling this job in a professional and persistent manner.
Additionally, during what can be a very difficult time for many job seekers, we are proud to make a difference in the lives of our clients. In addition to teaching the necessary job skills, we also provide a supportive and energetic environment. Here are just a few unsolicited comments we have received from those we have served.
“Without the Barrington Career Center, I don’t know how I would have gotten through.”
“The BCC provides an invaluable service to so many people…thank you again.”
“Your center fills a vital need in the community, and a much needed ‘warm’ spot when people are in the cold of unemployment.”
The BCC was formed in 1994 as a volunteer driven organization and continues that tradition today. We rely almost exclusively on our 70+ volunteer workforce to deliver all our program services. With over 5000 donated hours a year, under the direction of a volunteer board and staff of 2 part-time employees, we are able to provide an annual value of nearly $750,000 to the Barrington and Northwest suburban community.
Our agency is supported financially by the Barrington Area United Way, local municipalities and townships, local businesses, individuals, our clients and alums. (Click here for a full list of our leadership sponsors.)
During 2008, we served 1000 clients, up from 600 in 2007. During this period of rocketing unemployment, we are seeing record numbers of job seekers who need our help. At the rate we began 2009, we expect to serve at least 1400 individuals this year.
If you would like to help us continue our legacy of coaching and supporting our community's unemployed, donate now.
